Pergola is a fragrance of high romanticism, woven with the essence of forest spirits. It opens with a wild, intoxicating rush of twisted green foliage, instantly whisking you back to the decadent echoes of a forgotten past. Galbanum, bergamot, and ivy dance together, spectacular in their vivid freshness.
At its heart, a floral symphony unfolds—a swooning blend of narcissus, tuberose, and jasmine, while the roots of history emerge through the earthy depth of patchouli and vetiver. Resins and woods whisper of its rich heritage, grounding the fragrance in a lush, mossy tapestry of earthy aromas. It breathes fresh green florals, never revealing a singular note, but rather a harmonious tapestry that lingers beautifully into a honeyed fougère drydown, an ode to nature's timeless allure.
LUCA TURIN ABOUT PERGOLA:Pergola is run from London by the Lithuanian model and perfumer Eglija Vaitkevice. One of the delights of sampling arcane niche fragrances is that you never know which artistic style the next fragrance you smell will belong to, a bit like a playlist that included both Hildegard von Bingen and Harry Styles. Exaltatum would be something like Weber, i.e. high romanticism mixed with forest spirits. Pergola is a properly composed, complex, high quality floral in an odd naive-grand manner that I find very interesting and is the end-point of accumulated skill on the part of artisan perfumers. It smells fresh-green floral without ever revealing any particular raw material, and works beautifully all the way to a honeyed fougère drydown."
"Pergola opens with the most incredible rush of twisted green vegetation and instantly transports you back to the heyday of that decadent walkway. There is so much happening in here but the notes of galbanum, bergamot, and ivy are particularly spectacular. The floral heart is a swooning blend of narcissus, tuberose, and jasmine but the pergola’s passage of history is provided by an earthy pairing of patchouli and vetiver. You get a real impression of its heritage from touches of resins and moss and, whilst it’s described as a fougere, there is definitely a feeling of the most glorious aromatic chypre."- Stephan Matthews in BLOG
